Your First Acupuncture Visit
Extra time is added to the first visit so that we can gain a thorough understanding of your current health state and both your short- and long-term healthcare goals. It also gives us the opportunity to answer any questions you may have about acupuncture or Chinese Medicine.
What happens during your first visit?
On your arrival you will be given a consultation and consent form to complete.
The initial consultation session will form the basis of your treatment plan. The aim it is to allow taking your full case history, by asking lots of questions initially focusing on the main issue that has brought you to us. This will be followed by questions related to any secondary symptoms you may have.
Once we have explored your condition and past medical history we will discuss your general health including sleeping patterns, diet, digestion, exercise routine, energy level and how your work and home environment influence you.
The next step is taking pulse, looking at your tongue and some physical examination depending on your condition.
Based on all this information we will put together a treatment plan. Acupuncture points are selected based on our diagnosis, your condition and the underlying patterns. We may combine acupuncture with other techniques as moxibustion, massage, cupping and gua-sha.
Please refer to our FAQ section for more information or schedule a free phone consultation to get your questions answered before booking your appointment.
Follow-up treatment sessions include a discussion on how your condition is progressing, taking pulse and treatment.
